About this activity

The Gorkhey-Srikhola trek is a 04 day trek, which is located in the buffer zone of Singalila National Park in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal and Sikkim border, India. It is a moderately difficult trek that offers stunning views of the Himalayas valleys and mountain villages.
The trek begins at the village of Voreng, which is located nearly 60 kms. from Darjeeling. The trek is mostly gradual, with a few short ascents and descents. In this trek you will see the Rangeet River, which is the largest river in Sikkim, Rammam village, which is a popular spot for bird watching.
The Gorkhey-Srikhola trek is a great option for trekkers of all levels of experience. It is a scenic trek with stunning views and a variety of birdlife.

Included/Excluded

  • Meals : We will provide food from Day 01 evening tea snacks to last day breakfast (Non-veg and veg).
  • Transportation : We will provide 01 Non Luxury (Non AC) vehicle (Tata Sumo/Mahindra Bolero/similar) for arrival from NJP/IXB/Siliguri to Voreng and departure from Srikhola to NJP/IXB/Siliguri.
  • (Please Note : Vehicle will be provided only for single point pick up and drop and no sightseeing is included).
  • ***Car Parking, Permits, Toll-Taxes, Tips for the vehicle & driver is included.
  • Trek Equipment : We will provide Tent, Sleeping bag, mattress, Kitchen tent and utensils.
  • Permit : Entry fees of Singalila National Park.
  • Safety Equipment : We will provide emergency medicine, although we suggest you to carry your own medicine if you have any personal medicine requirement.
  • One experienced trek leader from our company.
  • Local guide.
  • Any food during transit to and from NJP/IXB/Siliguri to Voreng and Srikhola.
  • Porter, Yak / Mule / Horse for personal luggage carrying.
  • Any service not specifically mentioned in the inclusion.

  • If you are not Indian nationals than you have to pay additional charges for permit as foreigners entry fees is higher than Indian nationals.
  • Any kind of emergency evacuation charges due to any event beyond our control, such as harsh weather, landslide or roadblock, natural disaster, strike or political closures, accident, breakdown of machinery, equipment or transport, passenger sickness etc.

Itinerary

After arrival at NJP/IXB/Siliguri, meet with our company representative and then drive to Srikhola via Manebhanjang (125 km., 7 hr., 8,350 ft.), base camp of Gorkhey Srikhola trek. After 4 hr. you will reach at Manebhanjang. Here you will get a small market for any last minute shopping before Gorkhey Srikhola trek. After three hour you will reach at Srikhola via Dhotrey. After arrival check-in at your homestay & get fresh. After getting fresh you can spend some relax time by sitting beside Srikhola river. Night stay at Srikhola in a homestay/lodge.

After breakfast start your trek from Srikhola to Rammam (8 km, 4 hr.). The trail from Srikhola to Rammam passes through the low altitude forest and few small mountain villages. Before starting the trek fill your water bottle although you will get few water sources throughout the trail. After starting the trek from Srikhola, the trail goes ascent through small trail in between forest. You will see few small local village with limited number of family’s and small tea shops, where you can take some rest. After walking for four hours you will reach at Rammam. Rammam is located in a hilltop where you can get a stunning view of local green hills. Very limited accommodation is available here with basic amenities. Night stay at Rammam in homestay.

After breakfast start your trek from Rammam to Gorkhey (9 km., 6 hr.). The trail from Rammam to Gorkhey passes through the forest of Pine, Bamboo and colorful Rhododendron tress. After starting the trek from Rammam, the trail goes ascent through bamboo forest. After 8 km. you will reach at Samanden, a picturesque mountain valley located in a hilltop with limited number of villagers. Here you can take some rest and soak the beauty of this beautiful valley. After crossing Samanden the trail become quite gradual and goes through Rhododendron forests till Gorkhey. After reach at Gorkhey, you will be amazed to see the stunning view of this beautiful green mountain valley. After reach at Gorkhey, unpack your Rucksack and here you can take a refreshing cold shower at Rammam river. After the shower, enjoy your lunch and then roam around this beautiful valley. In the evening you can enjoy a campfire to celebrate your successfully completed trek. Night stay at Gorkhey.

After breakfast prepare for the last 4 km. trek from Gorkhey to Voreng through steep trail surrounded by Pine tree. After 2 hr. you will reach at Voreng and then drop to NJP/IXB/Siliguri (130 km., 7 hr.).
