Itinerary

After arrival at DMV/DMU/Dimapur “The Gateway of Nagaland”, meet with our company representative and then drive to the hotel at Dimapur. Dimapur is Nagaland's largest city & commercial hub and it serves as the primary gateway for Nagaland and it’s neighboring states Manipur and Mizoram. The Dimapur railway station is the second busiest in Northeast India after Guwahati railway station. The Dhansiri River, a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra River, snakes its way through the city, offers opportunities for a serene riverside walks. After reach at the hotel at Dimapur, check-in & get fresh. After lunch you can visit local market, for some shopping or to taste some delicious local cuisine. Night stay at Dimapur in a hotel.

After breakfast you will go for half day Dimapur sightseeing. You will start your sightseeing from Kachari Ruins, a silent sentinels whispers tales of a forgotten era. These evocative remnants, builds on 10th century, are the legacy of the Dimasa Kachari Kingdom that ruled the region before the Ahom invasion in the 13th century. When you enter through the grand gateway, you will see the ruins stand scattered like chess pieces across the landscape, a series of mushroom-domed pillars are still standing, others humbled by time, some of them are even 15 ft. tall. These enigmatic monoliths, meticulously carved from sandstone, looks mesmerizing and mysterious because their purpose remains unknown. After exploring the Kachari Ruins to complete your journey through history, you will be headed to Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, a 28.5-acre complex dedicated to promoting the cultivation, processing and utilization of bamboo. Established in 2005 by the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, the center serves as a hub for research, development, training and production of bamboo-based products. Here you can walk through a diverse bamboo garden, which is showcasing over 60 species from India and across the globe. You can witness the transformation of bamboo into various products, from furniture like beds, chairs and tables to household items like baskets, musical instruments and utensils. After spend some time there, you will visit Nagaland Zoological Park, established in 2008, this sprawling 176-hectare park is more than just a place to see animals, it's a conservation center and a haven for endangered species native to the Northeast Indian region. The park has an impressive collection of over 300 animals representing 40 different species, you can encounter them in their natural habitats. After completing the sightseeing, you will be transferred to Kohima (80 km., 4 hr., 4,800 ft.), the capital of Nagaland, a crown of rich history, enchanting scenery and a vibrant cultural tapestry. The road between Dimapur and Kohima goes through hills and valleys, which offers stunning view of the Naga Hills. During the journey you will pass through some charming Naga villages, where you can witness traditional Naga life. After reach at Kohima, check-in at your hotel & get fresh. After breakfast go for full day Kohima sightseeing. You will start your sightseeing from Nagaland State Museum, a treasure trove of the state's rich history, vibrant culture and diverse tribal heritage. Established in 1970, the museum takes you on a fascinating journey through the ages, unveiling the stories, traditions and customs of Nagaland. Here you can explore galleries with artifacts that showcase the distinct identities of the 16 Naga tribes, also some significant historical events, including the Anglo-Naga wars and the World War II. After exploring the museum, you will be headed to Kohima War Cemetery, a poignant and sacred haven dedicated to the sacrifices made during World War II. The silence here is profound, which only broken by the whisper of the wind and the gentle rustling of leaves. At the highest point of the cemetery you will see Kohima Cremation Memorial, a towering obelisk dedicated to the 917 Hindu and Sikh soldiers who were cremated in accordance with their faith. Here you'll notice the immaculately maintained grounds, which is a testament to the enduring respect and care given to this sacred space. After spend some time there, you will go to Kohima Cathedral Church, the church of the bishop of the diocese of Kohima, situated atop Aradura Hill, a majestic testament to faith and architectural brilliance. It’s more than just a place of worship, it's a cultural landmark in the region. Other than the religious significance, the church also offers panoramic views of the surrounding Naga hills and valleys. Next you will visit Kisama Heritage Village, also known as Naga Heritage Village, located just 12 km. from Kohima, it's a living museum. Here, you can step back in time and experience the soul of Nagaland firsthand. The village comprises 16 Morungs, each represents a distinct Naga tribe and whispers stories of ancestral customs, headhunting days and the indomitable spirit of the Naga people. These traditionally built huts, with their unique architectural styles and intricate carvings, showcase the diverse cultural mosaic of Nagaland. After exploring the village you will be back to the hotel at Kohima. After lunch you can visit local market, for some shopping or to taste some delicious local cuisine. Night stay at Kohima in a hotel.

After breakfast go for full day excursion to Khonoma Green Village and Dzuleke. First you will visit Khonoma Village, nestled amidst the verdant hills of Naga hills, located just 25 km. from Kohima, the state capital. This village is a living, breathing tapestry of rich history, vibrant culture and a revolutionary commitment to conservation, earns it the coveted title of India's first Green Village. The forest around the village was once the hunting ground for local tribe, which is now transformed into a sanctuary for wildlife. Now the villagers banned hunting, protects their forests and initiates sustainable practices. When you will visit here, you will see lush greenery carpets the hills, birdsong fills the air and endangered species like the Mithun roam freely, which is the testaments to Khonoma's remarkable transformation. Here you will see the Khonoma War Cemetery, a poignant reminder of sacrifice, and the Morung, a traditional Naga house that once trained warriors and now fosters cultural heritage. After exploring this mesmerizing village, you will be headed to Dzuluke, which is located 25 km. from Khonoma. Dzuleke is a village that whispers tales of serenity, wildlife encounters and ancient tribal culture. This hidden gem, with barely 200 households, promises an escape from the ordinary and an immersion into the heart of Nagaland's raw beauty and vibrant culture. Here you will see emerald paddy fields stretches as far as your eye can see and kissed by the gentle mist that rises from the meandering Dzuleke River. Here lush bamboo forests frame the village, adorned with wildflowers that paint the landscape with vibrant hues. This is a place which will offers a soothing balm to the weary soul. After spend some time there, you will be back to the hotel at Kohima (45 km., 2 hr.). In the evening you can visit local market, for some shopping or to taste some delicious local cuisine. Additional Sightseeing : If you have an extra day at Kohima than you can visit Khezhakeno Village, located 60 km from Kohima, at an altitude of 5,500 ft., a picture-perfect paradise for nature lovers.
