Deep Winter or Deep Summer: a practical way to compare them

I am trying to understand my undertone before ordering makeup samples, but my phone camera keeps changing the result. Near an open window my skin looks fairly neutral, yet the same photo taken later can look noticeably warmer. I removed filters and I am using the rear camera, although automatic white balance still seems to interfere. A white sheet beside my face helps a little, but I cannot tell whether I am comparing colour or simply reacting to contrast. I use a plain wall behind me to reduce differences that have nothing to do with my skin. I would prefer a short routine so I can repeat it on another day instead of chasing a perfect single image. I plan to compare photos without editing rather than relying on a memory of how the first attempt looked. I found a skin undertone test camera reference while looking for a sensible process and plan to record the time, light, and the colours placed near my face. For anyone who has solved this problem which conditions should stay fixed before I compare the photos?

Trying to make a useful personal colour shortlist

I am planning a small work wardrobe and would rather choose a few useful colours than chase every shade in a seasonal palette. My first thought is to begin with two neutrals, one darker accent, and one lighter colour near the face. I am considering navy, charcoal, muted blue, berry, and a soft off-white. Rather than ordering immediately I want to see each option next to fabrics that I already wear often. Several basic pieces from my closet should make the contrast easier to judge than isolated digital swatches. I do not need a permanent label but I would like a sensible direction for future purchases. A trial period with existing clothes should show which combinations are genuinely easy to use. I am using this to organise the possibilities: what is my color palette This gives me a way to edit the list after seeing actual fabrics. Which four or five colours would you test first for a practical, low-volume wardrobe?

How do you compare two possible colour palettes?

I am trying to choose between Soft Winter and Deep Winter before replacing a few wardrobe basics. The comparison boards I have found make both directions seem reasonable when I look at them separately. Even with darker colouring, I do not want to assume that the deepest colours are automatically best. In neutral morning light some berry shades look clear while others make my face seem flatter. I want to contrast charcoal, navy, and softer grey fabrics rather than relying on one dramatic colour. A friend suggested plain photos and the same lighting so that the comparison stays fair. I want the same daylight conditions whenever I put two colours side by side. For a more organised starting point, I am using color analysis After that, I can test only the most promising shades at a store. How do you separate these two palettes when neither result feels completely clear?
